Dear members, friends and supporters of the synagogue community in Magdeburg,
Our community is a vibrant place of Jewish life, tradition and faith. The Torah, the heart of our faith, has connected us for generations and is a symbol of our unwavering community. In order to continue to enrich our religious life, we would like to have a new, handwritten Torah scroll made.
Why do we need a new Torah scroll?
A Torah scroll is not only a valuable cultural asset, but above all a holy scripture that plays a central role in our religious services and on special holidays. The production of a Torah scroll is a complex, time-consuming process that is carried out by specially trained soferim (scribes). Every single line must be carefully written by hand to ensure that it complies with the strict regulations.
Our existing Torah scrolls have been in use for many years and are increasingly showing signs of wear and tear. A new, immaculate Torah scroll will enable us to continue to preserve our traditions in an authentic way and pass them on to future generations.

The cost of making a new Torah scroll is considerable, so we ask for your generous support. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, brings us closer to our goal of soon holding our new Torah scroll in our hands and being able to ceremoniously dedicate it in our synagogue.
